Final Candidate Review: sales candidate assessment in Ontario

You're down to your last few candidates, and you can't afford to get this one wrong. A bad sales hire costs you the salary, the lost deals and six months of starting over. We'll help you pick the right one. If we don't, you don't pay.

Of the time, companies fail to choose the candidate with the right talent for a manager's job.

Final Candidate Review is a sales candidate assessment for Ontario companies, led by Ashley Wesley (MA, CHRL, CIM) from Guelph, Ontario, working across the province, including Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo.

Sound familiar?

Three candidates on your desk. You like one of them. They interviewed well and said all the right things. Of course they did. Selling is the job, and for that hour, the thing they were selling was themselves.

You've hired the one who interviewed well before, and spent the next six months finding out who they really were. So you're hesitating before you make the offer. That's the right instinct.

Who it's for

Ontario companies with roughly 25 to 750 employees, choosing between finalists for a sales role.

Salespeople

Sales reps, account managers and business developers who'll carry a real number.

Sales managers

The people who coach, hire and run the team day to day.

Sales executives

Sales directors and VPs of Sales who set the direction.

What's included, and how it works

  1. Define the hire. We sit down with you and your leadership to agree what this person really needs to do in their first year, then write the ideal candidate profile before anyone is scored.
  2. Benchmark your team. A few of your best people take the same assessments, so your finalists are measured against the people who already succeed with you.
  3. Assess up to three finalists. Each one goes through the Certainty System. We can schedule and complete it in as little as 24 hours.
  4. Validate the match. The Comparison and Decision Report puts your finalists side by side, scored for fit with the job, your company, their future boss and your team. We walk you through it and give you a clear recommendation.
  5. Start well. A 90-day plan for whoever you hire.

Built from 25 years on both sides of the desk

Ash has spent more than 25 years interviewing and hiring, and 20 years leading sales teams himself. So he's been the one carrying the number, and the one who had to live with the wrong hire.

Along the way he's taught HR strategy at the postgraduate level and kept digging into the research on what actually predicts performance. The Certainty System is what came out of all of it: the best of hiring science, plus our own approach to selecting sales teams.

Why not just use a cheaper test?

A cheap online test tells you something about a candidate. It won't tell you whether they'll sell to your customers, under your manager, alongside your team.

So don't compare us to the price of a test. Compare us to what your last wrong sales hire cost you: the salary, the lost deals and the months of starting over.

How you pay, and our handshake guarantee

The fee is a share of the role's first-year pay, paid in two parts:

  1. 25% to get started. That covers the work up front: the profile, the benchmarking and the Certainty System.
  2. 75% three months after your hire starts, and only if they're still in the role and performing. If the hire doesn't work out, you don't pay it.

Our handshake guarantee. If you don't think the report and the process helped you make a better decision, tell us within 14 days of your debrief and you don't pay. No dispute, no argument.

We're paid in full only when your hire works out.

Final Candidate Review questions

How do you test a salesperson before hiring?

We put each finalist through the Certainty System, our assessment built on the best of hiring science and our own approach to interviewing, and score them against a profile written before anyone was interviewed and against your own best people. You get the results side by side, with the evidence behind every score.

Is Final Candidate Review right for me?

If you're choosing between finalists, yes. If you've already picked one person and want to be sure, the Certainty Check fits better. If you don't have strong candidates yet, our sales recruitment finds them first.

How many candidates can you review?

Up to three finalists, compared side by side, so you're weighing real evidence instead of impressions.

Do my own employees need to do anything?

A little. A few of your best people complete the same assessments as your finalists. That's what lets us compare candidates with your real team instead of a generic norm.

How long does it take?

Good candidates don't wait. Once we've met with you and built the profile, we can schedule and complete the assessment in as little as 24 hours.

What if none of the finalists is right?

Then you've learned it before the offer, and the report explains why. If you need to go back to market, our sales recruitment can take it from there.

Can you guarantee the hire will work out?

No, and be wary of anyone who says they can. People are people. What we guarantee is that we'll help you make a better decision, and if you don't think we did, you don't pay.

How is Final Candidate Review paid?

The fee is a share of the role's first-year pay. A quarter is paid to get started, and the rest three months after your hire starts, only if they're still in the role and performing.

Is this defensible under Ontario law?

Every step is documented against job-related, behaviourally anchored criteria, built to hold up under the Ontario Human Rights Code, and background checks are done only with the candidate's written consent. You don't need another candidate. You need the right one.
